I am a Research Fellow at the Institute for Poverty, Land, and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS) at the University of the Western Cape, as well as an Honorary Research Associate at Environmental Humanities South at the University of Cape Town. I hold a PhD in Sociology from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Coimbra. My research interests focus on agrarian movements, rural politics, food sovereignty, climate justice, and corporate accountability. I have been actively engaged with agrarian social movements both locally and internationally, collaborating with the National Union of Peasants (UNAC) in Mozambique and the International Secretariat of La Vía Campesina.
I serve as a co-editor for the Grassroots Voices section of the Journal of Peasant Studies and as a contributing editor for the Review of African Political Economy. My work has been published in the Journal of Peasant Studies, Journal of Agrarian Change, and the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Food Studies, as well as in several book chapters published by Pluto, Routledge, and others. I am also the Solidarity Programme Officer for West Africa and Haiti at Grassroots International.
Within the CORPACCOUNT research, I am analyzing networks of economic solidarity and alternative agroecology projects in the southern African continent (South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique) and their impact on corporate accountability for human rights violations and the environment degradation.
